There are many situations where a new folder may need to be created for organizational purposes. These are the two basic ways to create new folders in Windows 7.
1. If you wish to add a folder to your desktop, right click in open space. Navigate to the New menu, click Folder.
2. If you wish to add a folder within another folder or drive, navigate to the place you want the new folder to appear and use the New Folder button on the top of the window.
