Webmail: Pop out new message window

Outlook is set so that when you type a new email or reply, you write the email in the reading pane on the side of the window, not in a new window. There is a button in the new email to open it in a new window, or you can set it so that it always opens new emails in a new window.

To open an email you are working on in a new window from the reading pane, follow these steps:
1. Open a new email or reply.

2. In the upper right hand corner of the new email, there is a button that looks like two windows offset on top of each other. Click on this button to open the email you are working on in a new window.

To set it so that new emails always open in a new window instead of the reading pane, follow these steps:
1. In the top right hand corner of the window, next to your name, click on the gear icon.

2. This opens a dropdown menu, click where it says "Search all settings" and type "reading pane"

3. Click on the option that pops up which says "Reading Pane"

4.  Select the option which says "type in a new window" and be sure to click the save button!
